1988 Smith Woodhouse Madalena

1st bottle from a bulk purchase for :tpf: members in March 08.

Emergency Decant
Well, not decanted at all  - I opened this to avoid downing too much of the Delaforce 1960 that I will take to Tom's tomorrow. He will also benefit from the opportunity to taste this.

Closed nose but still at 12 degrees so should open up. Beautiful colour as always. A nice thick cherry truffle mouthfull. I love this stuff.

I suspect that this is going to remain one of those unknown and undiscovered ports that never really makes the mainstream but when served blind (like you did to me) will really show its true potential.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

It will if I keep buying it all at £16 (ish) a bottle

Attending my birthday bash, Derek came well stocked..

I polished this off last night - classic, beefy SW signature, both on nose and palate - but a bit lacking in refinement. Slightly acquired taste needed here - not really my scene.

Might also benefit from a year or three more in the bottle. Score 4-5
