Decanted cleanly off a huge amount of very solid sediment - almost as solid as, say, a deposit of limescale. Pale in colour, looking much older than its 18 years. Transparent centre, pale pink rim. Stewed nose, slightly bitter from a touch of bottle stink. Sweet in the mouth with lovely licorice flavours and lots of sweet raspberry. Alcohol not fully integrated (more time in the decanter should take care of that) but the aftertaste is very long and very delicious. This is not a great wine, but is a lovely port that is at its peak right now and should be drunk soon. 5/4 or 88/100.
This did not change or improve significantly over the 7 hours it remained in the decanter.
