1977 Croft Vintage Port

Post by g-man »

Had recently on my trip to cali.

Impressive bottle!

Very little signs of bricking around the edges, color of deep red with a hint of orange.

Floral (rose water?) sweet plums, honey and feint orange zest that lingers in the glass.

Mouth of graham crackers, cherries, excellent balance of sweetness and acidity, very smooth velvety tannins, medium/full body that ends with a finish of sweet spicy tobacco that lingers for 30 seconds.

This was probably the third best 77 port I've ever had.

9/9. 95 pts.

This was the very last bottle from my fathers collection he stopped buying at that point and for some reason he fails to remember why.I remember it being the best example of Croft's 77 I've had.A bit on the light side was my only complaint. All of his bottles have been superb maybe storage and bought on release has something to do with it even the Graham,s 75 was good I must source another bottle of this to compare.
