I have just opened this bottle with a view to enjoying a glass or two tonight and tomorrow night. Immediate observations:
  • It has a very heavy flake like sediment
The cork had a wax like substance over it - almost like an additional seal? Has anyone seen this before?
The small glass I poured at the end is quite amber / red
I shall look forward to enjoying this later!

I love this port! I haven't had it for a while and really hope it lives up to some of the experiences that I have had with it. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it from?

The extra wax seal is uncommon, but is exactly that. A thin, almost clear, layer of wax spread across the top of the cork and bottle to make things absolutely air tight.

Enjoy - a great choice.

I have found two people selling this at the moment:

Virgin Wines at GBP17.49
Arthur Rackham Wines at GBP17.19

That seemed pretty good value to me. I must admit I did check the tasting notes before buying, just to check!

Now enjoying a glass. It is very smooth - what i was hoping for from a 21 year old wine. I am glad I bought more than 1 bottle!

This could become a reliable everyday VP for me I think!

I'm very pleased that this is a good bottle. I would agree that this is a good candidate for a house port.
