Bottled and labelled as "Adams 1963 Vintage Port" but the cork revealed this to be Carvalhas (the marketing name for Royal Oporto ports in Portugal). Decanted off some well settled sediment from a bottle with high fill, sound cork and in apparently perfect condition . Very pale brown on decanting - the colour of barley sugars. Light flavours on the news, dusty vanilla and clover honey. Sweet and flowery flavours in the mouth, some lovely lemon zest and quince flavours; huge burst of oranges on swallowing, then a burst of heat and then a surprisingly long length of chocolate and vanilla. A wine that is below average, but is very smooth and pleasant, all the same. Likely to last a few years yet before it declines from where it is. 1/1. Drunk 10 May 2008.
