2001 Tesco (Symington) LBV
This was another emergency purchase (I really need to get a stock of decent mid-range bottles). Not the sort of thing I usually go for, but it was the only LBV/VP in the store which I hadn’t tried so I though unknown mediocrity would be better than known mediocrity
24 Hours Nothing particularly distinctive on the nose: mostly red and blackcurrents. In the mouth, it is initially quite pleasant (but this goes too quickly to contemplate it in detail) before being followed by a huge tannic hit. The after-taste is pretty brief and hot.
This bottle reminds me a lot of the Tesco 1994 VP. In fact, if I am remembering it correctly, I think I would struggle to tell them apart. I don’t think I’d have another go, but as a value LBV, I think this is of a fair quality.
