A 1995 Offley Boa Vista was opened, following a suggestion from somebody signing himself Derek (Cofi Anan) Turnbull that I shuld drink port. So the plan was that I go to the gym in the afternoon. Ahead of which a Offley Boa Vista 1995 was decanted, at DRT’s suggestion, to liven the evening, with some saved for tomorrow. Then a friend of the wife’s came round, with my mother-in-law. I had to offer them a glass. And it would have been rude not to join them. You might ask “how goes the plan?† — better than planned, methinks.

Quite dark, lots of red and black, but seeming devoid of youthful blue. Soft to nose, lots of black fruit, though pædiatric astringency also prominent. To taste not quite as full-bodied as the nose promises, but eminently quaffable. And eminently quaffed.

If drinking now, decant â”°Â¥6 hours. But really drink â”°Â¥2011.
