In buying some sherry at Village Wine and Spirits, I spy with my little eye a wee half bottle of Osborne 1994 for a mere $20+tax. What’s a boy to do?

Short cork extracted cleanly. There were two capsules, but the inner foil capsule was glued so tightly to the outer black that I didn’t separate them.

Sediment moistly particulate, though parts had acquired the shape of the inside of the half bottle.

Osborne 1994: mediumly-dark red shifting to brown at the edge, with middling translucency. Colour looks a little advanced for a 1994, but it is a minor house. Nosing very strongly of — I know that smell what is it? — nearly coffee, nearly liquorice, nearly a fisherman’s friend minus most of the menthol. Very strong. It overpowers the taste, hiding whatever fruit there might be. I think I’m pleased that this is only a half bottle: Uncle Tom might grade this something like 2/2.

I must say that I was a bit more positive than you when I tried it. By no means a blockbuster, but very nice to drink. And it evolved nicely during the evening. I believe I paid ┚¬25 for a full bottle, and would do so again if I came across one.

I didn’t get the dried fruit. Earthy tones maybe.
