Gould Campbell 1983: one of the darkest colored ports of the evening, still a rather deep purplish. Very well balanced on the nose, dark fruits, fairly clean and straightforward. Light mouthfeel, decent flavor with a tropical fruity/Hawaiian Punch finish. Quite pleasing.

Gould Campbell 1983: cloudy and dark, shifting to purple at the edge. Nose initially spirit, then black cherry. The taste for me spoilt by a bitterness throughout the palate, with more heat later.

This cloudy purple Gould Campbell 1983 exhibits a spicy, hot nose, then fills the mouth with dark cherries, licorice, and all manner of spice at the end as its long tail drags out. It stands out as an exceptionally interesting wine as it wanders far from traditional "porty" flavors. (91, drink/past ready)
