NV Croft Pink

“Hello again†, I’m greeted, “we have a new port†. So far, so good. “It’s roz醝. “Is that Rozès or rosé?†, asks I. We sit. The bottle, brightly labelled “Croft Pink†, is presented to me, as if it is about to be opened, along with a glass containing a minuscule sample.

The restaurant is too dark to assess colour. Nosing of raisins, quite distinctively raisins, and sugar. The taste matches. No heat; quite but not perfectly smooth; very sweet and raisiny. Doesn’t compare to a worthwhile VP, but a far better product than I had expected. An entirely acceptable mixer port, but not a stand-alone thing unless it and its containing glass are really frozen.

I didn’t get RonnieRoots’ “bright raspberries†, but can’t deny that the term might be right.
