1963 Burmester Colheita (bottled 2008)

Post by Axel P »

Bottled in 2008 this Burmester Colheita was given as a present at the Colheita experience of Sogevinus during the essencia do vinho in Porto early March this year. The deal was 20 (!) EUR entrance fee for the tasting including this 0,375l-Bottle. Full article can be reviewed at Roys August letter or in german:

Signs of a more than 30y old tawny with a brownish color with immense intensity and concentration. Outstanding reflexes, very alive. The bouquet is deep with the typical dry fruits in a massive depth and traces of malt and spearmint. On the palate dates and the malty note with a good acidity and alcohol. Smooth, mouthfilling, concentrated. The aftertaste is immensly long and very, very pleasant.

An almost perfect colheita to lay hands on when- and wherever you can. I even foresee it to improve over the next couple of years/ decades. 19
