A lone bottle bought from Dreweatts ealier this year.

According to Mayson, this wine was made from grapes with a very high baume reading that were then fermented to near dryness, so that only half the normal amount of aguardente was needed to provide fortification.

The result is a wine that is somewhat intermediate between a table wine and a port, and is not as overtly immature as might be expected of a port this age.

This is a good wine, but I can't help feeling that if it had been prepared in the normal manner, it might have been an exceptional one.

How this will evolve over the coming years is a hard call, but it will probably improve a little over the next ew years.

Score 6-7
