1985 Dow: at D+4h. Red, slightest hint of brown. First to show blackberry, and sugar. In the very late palate quite dry, but sweet early. Needs more time, after which it will be thoroughly excellent this bottle’s four hours decanting insufficient. Baumé 2.7°, and apparently other ’85s are 3.4° or 3.5°.

Also note the layout of the Symingtons’ placemats, which was partly responsible for inspiring the new /Gaia layout in
the placemat software.

'85 Dow could be one of the best post-war vintages.
