From a Port Tasting and Dinner hosted by Christian Seely at Quinta do Noval in October 2006

1962 Quinta do Noval Crusted Port

Tawny appearance and character. Very smooth and delicate. Extremely nice glass of port, probably never to be repeated

Have only just noticed this note.

I have a bottle downstairs - Remind me to invite you when I eventually get round to opening it!

Incidentally, it is strictly speaking a 1965 crusted. Although the date 1962 is writ large on the label, the small print says bottled in 1965..

..so even more reason to invite you!

Tom

As of two years ago, there was only one left of this in the Noval cellars....as Derek and I, and a few others, shared the second to last bottle in their cellar.

Although there is (was?) one of these left in the cellar at Noval a couple of years back, they do occasionally come up in the secondary market. I vaguely recall seeing two offered for sale in different places over the last year or two.

I found out recently that I have a Noval port that is not in the cellar at the Quinta. One day some of us will take that bottle back to its home and share it in the place where it was made. 88)
