NV Dow's Crusted Port (bottled 1997)

Post by RonnieRoots »

Tasted somewhere 2004:
Very dark purple red color. Lots of alcohol showing on the nose, sweet strawberries and figs. Again strawberries in the taste, with sweet (red) cherries, mocha chocolate, and red chilipeppers (yes, it's hot!). Medium bodied and much sweeter than I would expect from a Dow's. Only the finish (cherry-chocolate) is rather dry. Good port, but it seems to be lacking some stuffing in the palate. Retasted after two days (stored in the fridge). The heat has blown off somewhat, and the fruit is a bit darker. But it is also a bit more lean. 85 points.
