1989 Quinta do Vesuvio single quinta vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Showing evolution in the colour, very pink on the rim. Quite closed on the nose but with a lovely lavender and green capiscum note. Pleasantly fruity in the mouth, mature and spicy. The bake is well integrated and gives a depth to the wine that might otherwise be missing. The aftertaste is complex and long. This is a port that seems to be continuing to improve with the bake characteristics becoming more integrated over the years. Delicious. 88/100. Tasted 30/10/08 after 90 minutes decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
