1990 Quinta do Vesuvio single quinta vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Paler in colour than the 1989 alongside it, very pale on the rim. Biscuits and raspberries on a disappointing nose. Very sweet, clean entry with initially a flush of fruit but an off-putting bitterness in the mid-palate - although this does fade with additional aeration - perhaps more time in the decanter would help - to give a more harmonious set of flavours. The aftertaste is long and generous, dominated by a nice acidic Granny Smith apple flavour. A pleasant wine, but not more. 86/100. Tasted 30/10/08 after 90 minutes decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
