1995 Quinta do Vesuvio single quinta vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

52 pipes bottled out of a total production of 385. Deep red colour, with some thinning on the rim. Blueberries on the nose with an interesting coriander twist. Very smooth entry which is swamped by a dry, tannic sensation that in turn is quickly replaced by a huge wave of fruit that masks - but never quite completely - the tannin in the wine. Hugely fruity, leading to a massive aftertaste of blueberry and dark chocolate. Stands up well in comparison to the 1994. Very impressive. 92/100. Tasted 30/10/08 after 2 hours decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
