1996 Quinta do Vesuvio single quinta vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, deeply coloured rim. More closed on the nose than the 1995, but clearly showing youthful blueberry with a twist of coriander again. Balanced and poised on entry. Superbly fruity, but not in an "over the top" way. Tannins are smooth, hidden and well integrated. Superb balance but showing very youthful. The aftertaste takes a while to develop, but stays around for a very, very long time. Very impressive - one to hold for the future. 93/100. Tasted 30/10/08 after 2 hours decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
