1999 Quinta do Vesuvio single quinta vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep opaque, solid rim and a very red stain on the glass. Blueberry nose with a streak of fresh winter air. Well composed and hinting at being sweet when it first enters the mouth but then becomes angular and overly tannic and acidic. Eventually, after much aeration, the fruit comes to the fore. A good aftertaste of dark cherries and black chocolate. Another to try again in 5 years when it should be better. 87/100. Drunk 30/10/08 after 150 minutes decanting.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
