1908 Schofield

Schofield were a UK bottler based in Manchester. The shipper of this bottle is unknown. Not quite as deep in colour as the 1900 Warre, but a very healthy looking red-brown mahogany - on a par with the Ferreira 1945. Lots of tobacco on the nose, with a touch of fresh lavendar. Floral and elegant. Sweet and mature in the mouth, showing lots of tertiary fruit and a lovely tartness, like unsweetened dried cranberries. The aftertaste is gentle and lingering, faint but quite long lasting and very enjoyable. A wonderful wine and very much alive. My wine of the night. 93/100.

Gorgeous colour. Nice weight, warm, beautiful with tobacco on the palate. Excellent stuff.

A superb wine, with fantastic colour for its age. Far better than the fragile Martinez '08 I popped a couple of years ago.

100 years? - no problem!
