Tasted april 2004, note by LadyR:
After the disappointing '96 LBV, here a good traditional one:

Beautiful dark garnet to ruby red colour, with small brown-pinkish rim. The first smell is overall warmth, lots of fruity cherries and some fresh red berries. With more air also some hints of wet earth/forrest appear. It has a little silky (or creamy) milk chocolate touch, which makes it more interesting.
When finally drinking it, it starts as a thick cherry and blackberry jam. Soon some relatively soft, but balansed tannins are appearing. This can surely be called a full bodied LBV, wow.
Then the creamy chocolate and the wet earth come through, nice.
The finish is very long and a little bit hot. Of course, lots of dark red fruit. Even a bit peppery, not too much.

On general, this is a very good and enjoyable traditional LBV, but it lacks complexity and depth. Still 89 LR points.
