2003 Berry Brothers

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A youthful and opaque red colour. Closed on the nose with little coming out of the glass other than some vague hints of dried sage. Dry in the mouth, fruity but with the tannins holding themselves back. Very restrained but with a strange, green-wood bitterness hidden away amidst the fruit. A very tannic finish, cheek drying and lip tingling but with a very big and long aftertaste. 87/100. Tasted on 27/11/08.

Alex, do you remember which producer made the 2003 for BBR?

If they are the same as the bottles I have, it is Quinta da Rosa.

Indeed it was produced by Quinta de la Rosa, but I don't know whether it was the same blend as was used for the bottles with the De La Rosa label.

I will go ahead and ask Sophia. Alex, could you reserve me a bottle with the BBR label of the VP 03?

Axel - easiest way to do that would be for you to order it by telephone from BB&R and reserve it for collection from their London shop when you are in London at the end of January.

The best way to get in touch with Berry's is by calling +44 207 396 9600. Ask to collect the bottle from the London shop, which is at 3 St James Street, London, SW1A 1EG.

Their normal opening hours are from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. They are also open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday but closed all day Sunday.

I suspect you did not even need to look up that level of detail!

I did have a brief correspondence with Q. de la Rosa at the time the '03's were released. I am pretty certain that the product supplied to Berry's is no different to the VP shipped by Rosa to other customers.
