1963 Croft vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Fading in colour, but with plenty of red still left in the wine. Surprisingly for a '63, the nose is quite closed with very little coming out of the glass other than, perhaps, a little milk chocolate. Very silky texture in the mouth, full flavoured with mandarins showing very strongly through all the flavour profiles that come on show - and with surprising tannins still holding the wine together nicely. Sweet and sticky "Roses Lemon and Lime" marmalade for the long aftertaste. Very impressive. 92/100. Tasted 27/11/08.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
