1970 Dow vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Light in colour but big on the nose with lots of mature fruit and sweet raspberry cordial. Very elegant entry, showing the typical Dow dryness and leading to a wonderful mid-palate with enormous complexity as it shows layer after layer of structure and flavour. Warm and sweet on the aftertaste, an aftertaste which develops, mellows and returns with the chocolate flavours that reveal there is still the structure and tannin for this wine to last for many years yet. 94/100. Tasted 27/11/08.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
