1985 Dow vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Light in colour, showing some age and beginning to brick. Complex nose, but showing a faint hint of Douro bake or perhaps mild VA wrapped around a core of sweet redcurrants. A silky texture, full of fruit that is wonderfully mature but still has some youthfully exuberant and spicy tannins. Lots of complexity. A good port beginning to drink well. A big aftertaste of raisins and nuts coated in dark chocolate. Delicious. 91/100. Tasted 27/11/08.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
