1983 Graham vintage port

Good colour, transparent centre and no sign of bricking. Perhaps a hint of VA on the nose, but a complex mix of mature fruits and violets. Surprisingly dry for a Graham on entry, with lots of fruit in the wine but with strong tannins still showing. Good complexity in the mouth as well as on the nose, with the tannins fading quickly to leave a great mix of sweet cranberry and red licorice. The licorice comes through strongly on the aftertaste. My only criticism is that the aftertaste fades more quickly than I would have hoped. Currently this is good port, but not great port. 90/100. Tasted 27/11/08.
