1966 Quinta do Noval vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Light and elegant in colour with a distinct orange rim and a sweet mulberry nose. In the mouth this is also a sweet port and is initially very nice but then a bitter core shows through and begins to dominate the wine, spoiling it substantially to the extent that the taste is actually unpleasant. The aftertaste is similarly unbalanced, but is long and eventually pulls itself together into a reasonable milk chocolate flavour. 86/100. Tasted 27/11/08.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
