1997 Smith Woodhouse vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Clear centre, colour just starting to fade on the rim. Surprisingly young smelling nose, full of blueberries - not what was expected from the appearance. Dry in the mouth, structured and very fruity with lovely flavours accompanied by tannins which complement the fruit wonderfully. An elegant aftertaste, not big but very long and full of dark chocolate. A very good wine. 90/100. Tasted 27/11/08.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
