1968 Quinta do Noval Colheita (bottled 2002)
Tasted February 2004, note by LadyR:
This night the Roots opened half a bottle of Noval colheita 1968, bottled in 2002 and bought at Novals lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia for 30 euros.

Caramel/toffee brown colour in its hart, and a yellow to transparant rim. The first smell reveals some iodine and alcohol, but is quickly followed by candied citrus and walnuts.
Light bodied taste, starts with flavours of nuts and candied sugar, sligthly alcoholic. Later on some bitter almonds and candied orange peels are coming through.
The finish is a little bit dissappointing: too short and overwelmed by iodine and a nasty bitter flavour. Some taste of brown sugar present.

I'll give it 88 points.

I have a bottle of this which was purchased from the Noval shop in VNG. I was keeping it for a special occassion but perhaps I should just drink it?
