As with many of Niepoort’s recent colheita offerings, this wine had very little time in wood. There is therefore quite a lot of colour remaining and the palate still has quite a lot of fruit. I don’t drink much tawny and so I’m not great at separating the separate elements, but what was particularly noticeable was its sweetness and the easy combination of the other flavours. It was a very easy-to-drink bottle, with nothing out of place. I will certainly be taking some more bottles so that I can return to this in the future.
