NV Merchant Vintners Company Ltd - Finest Ruby Port

Post by Rubby »

Bottled by Fonseca Guimaraens.

Part of a mixed lot bought at a wine auction.
T-cork. Poured straight from the bottle. Surprisingly enough this bottle throws a small amount of granular sediment. There is no way of telling the age of this 'Finest Ruby', but the presence of a bar-code on the back label shows that it can't be too old.
Almost opaque, dark red.
Nose of cherries, some orangepeel and mint. Palette of cherries, some dark chocolate and some elderberry. Reasonable lengthy aftertaste. No tannins.
For a simple 'Finest Ruby' this is rather pleasant. I'm still puzzled by the sediment.
