2001 Churchill LBV

Unfiltered.

decanted +1:
Closed nose. Remarkably dry on first taste. Apple and cherries on the palette. Figs and mineral in aftertaste. Reasonably long aftertaste. Medium to light body. Tannins present. This clearly needs more decanting time and I'm curious to what it will taste like in a couple of hours.
decanted +2:
Nose still quite closed. Taste is gaining somewhat in body as alcohol is becoming more present. Still a lot of refreshing apple. Slight addition of plums.
decanted +5:
Palette is still gaining in richness: a hint of pear added. Nose is slowly opening up.

decanted +24:
Gained a bit more in heat, but also more dark berries showing! This is nice! Blackcurrant and gooseberry added to the palette.

A nice, refreshing, not too sweet or too heavy Port that needs a lot of decanting time to reveal its full flavours!
I have the feeling this Port will never have a great nose though, no matter what the decanting time is.
