1996 Calem Foz

Cálem Quinta da Foz 1996: seen in the Wine Warehouse, and having so liked the
CáF70, purchased for all of $16+tax. Decanted at 1:30pm. Very opaque deep red. Nose closed. Taste full of dark fruit, but quite astringent. Needs time in the decanter. More later in both senses.

Much more later. Full of young smooth fruit. A joy to drink, in the sense of a not-fully-mature medium-weight excessively-hyphenated port full of plums and blackberries. Not heavy enough to be a full-on great port, but for the pittance it cost, and even if it cost several pittances more, very fine.
