1963 Hedges and Butler Quinta do Noval, in magnum
Sample 2 of 4 very kindly sent to me by JDAW following the opening of 4 Magnums at the Tiddlywinks Dinner on 7th Feb 2009. Decanted at 1pm on that day. Delivered to me in 60ml bottles, each of which contained a significant amount of fine sediment, on 11th Feb and placed in the fridge at around 7pm where they have remained until around 23:00 on 21 Feb.

D+ 14 days and 10 hours, 10 days and 4 hours of which were spent in the fridge
Darker and more red than Sample 1, Sample 3 and Sample 4. Lovely delicate strawberry nose. Nice weight with some dryness and nice red fruits in the mid-palate. Slightly bitter but very long finish.

Thank you, JDAW.

PS: These 4 Magnums were the siblings of the one used for this experiment.

Ahh, thank you for reminding me of this.

#2: in the evening, after a day that could evasively be described as ‟full”: big nose, but tart. Cranberry? Yes, lots of cranberry. Taste full and round and long, and very cranberry.
