Messias Quinta do Cachão 1970: another 1970 missing from that allegedly ‘great’ horizontal held 30th January 2009. Obviously the horizontal will have to be redone properly sighs loudly.

Decanted 3pm-ish. Wet cork; little sediment, such as there was being fine. At the time, somewhat rushed, the decanter-priming sample had tartness and a little heat.

So at D+2hr revisited. 80%ile translucent = 20%ile opaque, mostly brown tinged with red, colour 40% saturated. Nose showing some alcohol and that same tartness. To taste the heat is gentle and pleasant, but the tartness is strong. The fruit has faded, leaving perhaps raisons and a hint of cranberry. Entirely pleasant port, but on the downhill stretch. Mayhap Uncle Tom would record something 5-3. So better than the Messias 1970.

Should this discussion be split from the TN?

Not only have they used all-capitals for a sentence with accents, the typefaces chosen don’t even treat consistently accented capitals.

Yes - it is an interesting discussion in its own right and will be difficult to find unless you do split - but make sure that the picture of the label and Jacob's comments stay in the TN thread.

IMO, of course.

Messias Quinta do Cachão 1970, at D+29hr. Yum. Much better. The heat has become pepper, a well-melded sweetness has appeared, with good length, and the tartness has softened. I like this and am regretting the wife’s consumption of so much of the bottle. With the extra day maybe a 6-4, maybe 7-4. Yum.

Presumably jdaw1’s comments were meant.
