1977 Warre: decanted 14:20. mature brown, indeed fully-mature brown. To taste sweet syrup, with good viscosity.

The cork was loose and fell into the bottle bagged out on fourth attempt. Maybe the loose cork has caused a little oxidisation of the wine?

At D+2hr acid is much more prominent, from first taste to the end. This is not a bottle in ideal condition.

an interesting bottle but one that totally felt like it oxidized.

It was between stages of a 5 year tawny and a tawny ruby.

Beginning to pick up some wood character. While pleasant, by no means a warres.

Rating withheld.

Moderate red color masks the trouble in store. The nose is hiding, perhaps with a bit of cardboard in it. It doesn't taste like anything, either, save for a long minty feeling that it leaves behind. Flawed, NS.

To see fully-mature brown, clear. Not much nose at all. Light on the palate, with brown sugar. The acidity less harsh than earlier. JHG likened it to a 10Y tawny.
