1977 Ferreira: decanted 14:40. Fully-mature brown, and a hint paler than the Warre 1977 decanted immediately before. The taste is delicate, sweet, and dominated by an excellent thing that I shall call ‘pungent raison’. Very strong. And there might be a hint of pineapple behind that.

At D+2hr little changed. Nicely mouth-filling with a powerful sweetness, and more of that pungent raison.

Is that similar to a smelly reason for being? (As in "pungent raison d'être".) I do believe that you may be acclimatising to Paris a little prematurely.

Light red, this intriguing wine was floral and a littly "gummy"/toffe/candy in the nose. It has a very nice mouthfeel, with lots of licorice, its acidic but the tail keeps going for a while. 88

A mature brown colour. Ferreira seems to lose red and gain brown faster than other prominent port houses: do others agree with this observation? Nosing and tasting of raisins, and a lovely unctuous rich mouthfeel. Others said ‟candy”, and I could just about imagine that the candy was the taste part of the mouthfeel. They might be related.
