2000 Quinta do Vale Dona Maria

Post by ajfeather »

D0 - very dark magenta, impenetrable. Subdued nose, alcohol and savoury red fruit are there but masked a bit. Sweet fruit on the front of the pallate to start with, reminds me a little of a cherry cough sweet and then the alcohol follows through before a bitter sweet finish that is satisfying. Quite dry and puckering tannins. Brooding comes to mind.

D24 - nose has a bit of blackberry. Cherry fruit dominates the pallate, touch of spicy ginger and a hint of bitters. Big mouth filling finish.

D48 - figgy and plummy now with a bit of spice. Still lots of tannin but i like this one. Quite long now.
