1966 Fonseca, part of an at-home mini-vertical of ’66, ’70, ’85. Decanted about 1½pm. At D+0 huge sweetness with pepper, the pepper fading quickly leaving a fantastic full-on Fonseca port flavour rolling around the palate. At D+0 the ’70 was huge, but the ’66 is bigger.

Pardon while I wipe the drool from my keyboard.

F66 and F70 at home for a personal mini-vertical. I like your style! The F66 is one of my favourite ports.

There is some pleasure in drinking down one’s stocks of USA-located port.

Wife: ‟caramel in the nose”; ‟wow that’s really good”; ‟a slight hint of liquorish”; ‟a little bit of pepper in the end of the nose”; ‟aftertaste of black cherries”.

AMK (she being the sole adult guest): ‟cherries”.

JDAW: just huge rounded mouth-filling sweetness. Yes pepper, yes really yes the black cherries. But most of all this is really excellent port.

Placemats (the wife liked the flowers, though doubted whether they would feature in a placemat used by ‟male port friends”).

F66: From my notes on paper, which probably overlap with the above. Semi-opaque dark, dark red. Not purple, maybe brown at edge. Initial heat, then rich rounded sweetness. First evening taste not quite as full as at D+0, but, with time, former glory was restored. A fantastically good port.

The sample was refridgerated immediately after decanting Saturday lunch, and mailed Monday morning.

I had only three sample bottles left, and as Jeff posted in the TN threads, Jeff won the ’66 and ’70, whereas SushiNorth must make do with only the younger.
