1963 Ferreira vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Opened as part of the Wokingham offline on 11 June 2009.

Ullaged to low shoulder. Very light colour, the palest of the wines being tasted. Some bottle stink on the nose which overwhelms most other smells. In the mouth this is thickly textured and very sweet. Perhaps a little simple, but showing sweet and floral flavours. Very mature, refined and elegant but not showing much. Aftertaste is very muted but the length develops quietly. Enjoyable and elegant, likely to hold for a decade. 82/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
