1958 Warre vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Opened as part of the Wokingham offline on 11 June 2009.

Ullaged to low shoulder. Mid red / brown, light and clear. Very medicinal nose with alcohol - perhaps of grapefruit. Sweet and lovely in the mouth initially with lots of delicate floral tones over some flavours of meat juice and redcurrant jelly. Big aftertaste, slightly burning but long also long and lingering; sweet but lacking in fruit. Acceptable drinking, but unbalanced. Clearly in decline. 80/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
