1975 Taylor

Stood up and immediately uncorked very successfully at 18:45. Not yet decanted as my funnel did not make it back from the front line last weeked so I will have to allow it to rest for a while to allow the expected huge sediment to settle.

Wish me luck. I have a feeling I may be taking one for the team here

I was really good. I didn't have any port between sunrise Tuesday and sunset Thursday!

I got back Wednesday night, and didn't drink any port at all on Thursday or Friday..

..I was on some old Fino sherry instead.. :P

Tom

PS: Good dry sherry out of the fridge is quite nice on a night that is too hot and sultry for VP

Back on topic...

Surprisingly red with a hint of pink, and quite dark, although fully translucent. Sweet cherry nose. A nice weight with strawberry, anicede and spice but the fruit has dried out. Lots of heat in the mid-palate but then a long sweet finish.

Not great but by no means undrinkable and not yet at the stage where you would need to obliterate these from your cellar in a hurry.

It's a hotter vintage from Taylor and I does not have the power or spice of their better vintages. If you didn't break the bank on the bottles, it's decent at best. Nothing to write home about.
