1963 Quinta do Foz colheita
Calem. Bottled 1983. Decanted off a large amount of fine sediment. Lightly coloured, pale brown with a red tinge. Typical colheita nose, concentrated and rich but also smelling slightly oxidised in a not unpleasant way. Thick texture, lightly acidic - almost lemony - offsetting a wonderful honeyed organge. Plenty of complexity and as many flavours as you care to allow to develop; really quite impressive. Not a big wine, quite subtle, but very enjoyable. A little too hot for comfort on swallowing, but a bit of patience is rewarded with a long and enjoyable aftertaste of clover honey. Quite delicious. 92/100. Drunk 11 July 2009.
