1970 Niepoort vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From a Bordeaux bottle. Soft red, but with good intensity of colour creating anticipation of a port at its peak. Candy and jelly beans on the nose, pleasant but subdued. A lovely texture and with considerable tannins in the wine. The fruit is sweet and dominated by cranberries and rose hips. The aftertaste is big and fruity. A long flavour profile leads into a very good length. An impressive showing. A wine at its peak. 90/100. Drunk 26 June 2009.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
