1970's night

Decanted: 25th August @ 10.30pm and returned to original bottle.

Dark and slightly cloudy. Some bottle stink which blew off quickly in the glass. Nice weight, cherry and bitter chocolate and a little hot.

Medium in colour, with a clear rim and a light centre. Very distinctive on the nose - full of sweet cherries and cloves and with a touch of chocolate. Sweet in the mouth; mildly fruity but with a good structure. Still a touch of tannin and lots of supporting acidity. Plenty of mid-palate complexity. Slightly hot on the on swallowing, but leads into a long and gentle aftertaste. A very enjoyable port. 90/100. Drunk 26 August 2009.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Red and 70% translucent. Quite light, red fruit resembling strawberry, with sharp heat on the back of the tongue.
