Deep red in colour. Lovely sweet brambles on the nose, really delicious. Terrific body, full and flavoursome impact that is very impressive. Plenty of fruit in the midpalate and delicious complexity. Tannins are gentle but firm. Very big in the mouth. Big aftertaste, slightly hot but full of dry blackcurrant skins. Big and long finish. Very impressive wine, enjoying being of age and drinking extremely well. Really nice port, which will hold in the cellar for a long time to come. 93/100. Drunk 4 September 2009.

I had a bottle of this almost a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. TN here.

It was drunk alongside a Quinta da Corte 1987 and was generally considered the better of the 2. Definitely the one for the longer term. I keep thinking about buying some more, but they only seem to come in what I consider to be silly presentation packs with a cheap filter! If anyone sees them without this at a good price, please let me know.

Yep - picked a few at the same time as everybody else. Hoped for 1987 but got 1988 - still not bad for the price, though.

AHB served a sample of this to me blind at the 1994 tasting at NCC on 9th Sep. I guessed it to be "a young SQVP, perhaps 2004/05".

A great wine that will last many years to come.
