Light in colour, pale pink on the rim. When decanted, this was reported as smelling of wet cardboard. 24 hours later, showing aniseed or red licorice on the nose. Flat in the mouth, showing sweetness and tannin but little fruit and a slight hint of taint - certainly not showing what Mz94 can offer. As with others of the '94 wines, a soapy or bitter grapefruit pithiness flavoured undertone on the palate. A slight taint in the aftertaste before a long finish of blood oranges and marmalade. Would not be fair to rate this, knowing what the wine can offer, but on this showing, 85/100. NR. Drunk 8 September 2009.

A pity, this is usually very enjoyable.

Agreed, a shame. A genuinely lovely Port under normal circumstances.

Anicede balls on the nose and some TCA. The TCA was more obvious on decanting the previous evening. Bugger.

Not withstanding the experts. TCA aside...

Buttery mouth feel with a good heat. Should be great and you can feel it. Even tainted this is a 91.
