This port is that described as ‟Younger” in the relevant post of One quiz at a time. But what house is it?

Corked removed cleanly, and branded vertically with the name of the house. Staining only a couple of millimetres through. Moderately opaque dark red. Nose: tannins and over-ripe cherries. SCP-DFF found butterscotch or caramel. To taste there is sweetness, but overwhelmed by a slightly acridness. Late palate there is lots of heat on the tongue, that being the predominant aftertaste.

Edit: revealed to be 1999 Quinta do Vale d. Maria, its day-one friend being 1997 Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo.

A very fruit and approachable wine. Not a blockbuster and not complex but a very good everyday drinker.

Revealed as: Quinta do Vale Dona Maria 1999.

Good to see a tasting note on this, as I actually own a bottle of it as well. Bought in a supermarket in Portugal for little money, if I'm not mistaken.
