This port is that described as “Older” in the relevant post of One quiz at a time. But what house is it?

Cork cleanly removed again. Darker, in both opacity and hue. Impressively purple. The nose is odd: a fresh green vegetable, amazingly likable, SCP-DFF suggesting “celery”. Is it? Maybe, not quite. Exactly the same sensation on the taste, lasting throughout the palate. Unusual port, though thoroughly likable.

Edit: revealed to be 1997 Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, its day-one friend being 1999 Quinta do Vale d. Maria.

At D+7, this is interesting port. Quite dry: there is a hint of sweetness, stronger in the very late palate, but overall quite dry. The initial taste is still vegetable—not bad vegetable, but vegetable nonetheless. Is ‘dessicated celery’ nice: it’s what it suggests to me.

By no means great port, but entirely pleasant drinking.

My note from last night says "Cabbages".

...the decanter is still almost full, despite being in the presence of JDAW and DRT for 4 hours of heavy drinking. It will be given another chance this evening.

After about 24 hours in the decanter, the vegetable on the nose lightened, but are still very obviously present. Very tannic and dry, from start to finish. Cloying in the mouth. DRT: high tannicosity.

Wow, it's lasted over 4 hours....no need to say anything more
